The Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce Business Women's Round Table (BWRT) was founded in 2004 to offer professional women in our region opportunities for networking and professional development in a welcoming and collegial environment. Under the auspices of the Chamber of Commerce, the BWRT hosts monthly brown-bag lunch meetings, open to all Chamber members, on the third Thursday of every month. As our Mission Statement affirms, we believe strongly in educating our members on a wide range of timely and important topics-in support of this goal, each monthly meeting features a guest speaker who is an expert in his or her field. Some notable recent speakers include Delegate David Toscano (Virginia House of Delegates-57th District), Philippe L. Sommer, Director of Entrepreneurship Programs at Darden's Batten Institute, Carolyn Shears, Senior Vice President at CB Richard Ellis Brokerage, and Bob Gibson, Executive Director of the Sorenson Institute for Political Leadership. Inviting such prominent individuals to share their wealth of knowledge and experience with our members allows the BWRT to offer substantive opportunities for personal and professional growth.
In our continuing effort to maximize networking opportunities, all BWRT members can sponsor a monthly meeting during a short presentation known as the "Sponsor's Spotlight." Sponsorship is an excellent opportunity for members to promote their products and services to a varied and dynamic group of local professionals.
BWRT members represent many diverse fields and professions, including large and small businesses, non-profits, real estate, banking, education, and many more. Ultimately, what binds our group together is the idea that camaraderie and professionalism can be mutually sustaining goals.
