Chamber Announces Leadership Charlottesville 2004 Class
(Charlottesville, Virginia - August 27) The Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce today announced its 2004 Leadership Charlottesville Class of 35 participants from a diverse range of Chamber member enterprises.
Leadership Charlottesville is a community leadership development program developed and sponsored by the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce. Since the program was established by the Chamber in 1982, more than 475 area citizens have graduated from this innovative community-building program. Wachovia is the lead co-sponsoring underwriter of Leadership Charlottesville. A list of the Leadership Charlottesville Class of 2004 is attached.
"Leadership Charlottesville embodies our Chamber's 'member service' and 'economic vitality' focus," said Ivo Romenesko, President of Appraisal Group, Inc., who serves as 2004 Chairman of the Chamber Board of Directors. "Our Chamber is very proud of the role we will fill in helping bring new citizen leaders to the fore in our community. Our community is the beneficiary as this year's Leadership Charlottesville Class will bring yet another 35 men and women into civic leadership."
Leadership Charlottesville is a unique Chamber program designed to help the Greater Charlottesville community meet its need for the active participation of informed, dedicated community leaders. Leadership Charlottesville demonstrates the Chamber's efforts to help build better bridges of understanding and cooperation that are essential as we work to build a better future for businesses, families and neighbors.
Jann Ross, the Chamber staff Director of Leadership Charlottesville, who has organized and managed Leadership Charlottesville since 2000, will again orchestrate Leadership Charlottesville 2004.
"As always, our Chamber is very pleased by the commitment these citizens and their businesses are making in our Greater Charlottesville communities," Ms. Ross added. "Together they join us in building upon the strengths of our Charlottesville community today and for the future."
Ms. Ross outlined that Leadership Charlottesville 2004 will open with orientation on September 9th followed by an opening retreat at the Falls River Center in Stanardsville. Subsequent weekly meetings will cover local history, government and politics, economic development, diversity, the arts, education, criminal justice, human services, media and communications.
