Compu-Tune Up has been selected to provide comprehensive IT service to the University of Virginia’s Medical Alumni Association. Under a three year contract, the company will provide service and maintenance to the Association’s PC system, including networking services, software, hardware, and off-site security back-up, as well as training.

Barry Collins, Executive Director of the UVa Alumni Association, chose Compu-Tune Up for his office’s IT outsourcing in part because he was very satisfied with an emergency service call. “Compu-Tune Up was very prompt and we liked their service orientation.” Collins decided he wanted a company that could provide a holistic solution for the Association’s PCs and networking. “We didn’t just want things fixed when they broke. We liked Compu-Tune Up’s approach to regular maintenance – making sure things don’t break, as well as maintaining virus protection and off-site back up for our files.”

“We’ll be their IT staff,” said Compu-Tune Up’s founder and president Johnny Forbes. “Our core business is providing turn-key IT service for those without any IT staff, from regular maintenance to training -- and everything in between.”

Compu-Tune Up is seeking an IT Professional to provide part-time support for both in-house and on-site customers. The current position is from 3pm to 7pm M-F with the possibility to move into a full-time position. Qualified applicants will have an A+ certification or equivalent hands on experience in HW & SW. Two Central Virginia Publishers have announced that they have formed a new regional publishing company called Target Media, Inc. Plans are underway to launch a new full color regional glossy magazine in March 2007 called Charlottesville House & Home (CH&H).

Target Media, Inc is a joint venture between Eric B. Lund, a Charlottesville resident who formerly owned and published three regional lifestyle magazines in Maryland and Pennsylvania including the award winning bi-monthly Chesapeake Life and Crozet based publisher Ike Allen, whose Allen Group currently publishes seven regional real estate magazines in Virginia and North Carolina under the Home Search title.

Charlottesville House & Home will debut in March 2007 as a free monthly magazine except for two issues each year, which will be double issues (July/Aug and Nov/Dec). A planned press run of 15,000 copies will be distributed via traditional newsstands and inside home and garden oriented retail sites.

Boar’s Head Inn announced recently that Mark Gallaudet, most recently Assistant Executive Chef at the exclusive Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Florida, will take over as the new Executive Chef at its Four-Diamond Old Mill Room restaurant. Chef Mark will oversee the resort’s acclaimed Old Mill Room restaurant, three kitchens, the hotel bakery, banquet facilities, and off-premises catering, with a combined staff of 40.

While at the Ocean Reef Club, Chef Mark assisted in leading the Club’s menu development of over sixteen culinary operations including lounges and volume banquet departments, representing over 100 culinary associates and chefs in season.

Chef Mark will exercise his Regional American / Continental culinary style and creativity by using fresh and simple ingredients at Boar’s Head Inn. He is known for creating dishes that are rich and unique in taste, as well as visually exciting. “I’m looking forward to reaching out to the area farmers and creating dishes that are both seasonally and regionally representative” said Executive Chef Mark Gallaudet.
