Elizabeth Cromwell, the president and CEO of the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce, responded today to Eddie McBride, president and CEO of the Lubbock (TX) Chamber of Commerce, as the Basketball Battle of the Chambers culminates this evening. The losing team's local Chamber of Commerce will send the winning team's Chamber a gift fit for a national championship.

"The Charlottesville business community is fired up about the national championship game and UVA Men's Basketball Team! On behalf of the Chamber, I am betting on a victory against the Texas Tech Raiders. My friendly wager is that if the University of Virginia Cavaliers lose this championship game, we’ll send you a gift of our world-famous Virginia ham. If your Red Raiders lose, we will be looking forward to enjoying some of your famous brisket and ribs.”

Cromwell was referring to the upcoming national championship basketball game between the University of Virginia Cavaliers and the Texas Tech Red Raiders. This takes place today, Monday, April 8 at 9:20 pm ET.

Cromwell continued, "Our mascot Cavman looks forward to hamming it up with Raider Red tonight. Prepare to 'meat' your doom!"
