The Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce has joined a new statewide healthcare alliance to make affordable health coverage more accessible for small businesses in Central Virginia.

The WiseChoice Healthcare Alliance was created by the Virginia Chamber of Commerce for the purpose of offering employer-based group insurance to members of affiliated local chambers and associations. The alliance offers a self-funded employee welfare benefit plan to eligible employer groups with 2–50 employees.

Through a partnership with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Virginia, WiseChoice will provide members with the tools, resources, and financial protection to feel confident in their healthcare decisions. The Alliance is an important step forward in the expansion of access to better health coverage for small businesses, which account for over 90% of employers in the state.

“By partnering with Anthem, we can expand access to the small business community and drive down healthcare costs,” said Barry DuVal, President & CEO, Virginia Chamber of Commerce. “The Alliance’s goal is to help build healthier Virginians and provide new opportunities for quality health coverage.”

Employers gain access to the WiseChoice Healthcare Alliance through membership with a participating local chamber of commerce or association. To be eligible, employers must have between 2-50 employees and have their corporate headquarters located in Anthem’s Virginia service area.

The Charlottesville Regional Chamber will host a webinar about WiseChoice on Tuesday, May 7, 10am to 10:45am.

Interested employers can learn more about WiseChoice and register for the webinar at www.CvilleChamber.com/healthcare.
