Honoring Tim Hulbert’s Legacy

Dear Chamber community,

It is with tremendous sadness that the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce announces the passing of former President & CEO Timothy Hulbert. Tim was a visionary leader who made significant contributions to our community.

“Tim Hulbert's tireless advocacy for Charlottesville's business landscape and dedication to the Charlottesville community will be remembered by all who worked with him,” said Sasha Tripp, chair of the Chamber board of directors.

“As CEO of the Chamber of Commerce during my early years as a member and Director, Tim's leadership reflected a deep commitment to our city's growth and prosperity," Tripp said. "He was an indisputable advocate for our businesses, and his legacy will continue to influence our region for generations to come."

“I am grateful for the 12 years I spent working with Tim, first starting as a volunteer Ambassador and then as an employee when he hired me in 2011,” said Andrea Copeland, Chamber Chief Operating Officer. “He was a mentor who significantly contributed to my professional development, preparing me to be an effective leader and advocate in chamber world.”

Following a storied career at the Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce in Troy, New York, Tim joined the Charlottesville Chamber in 2001, serving for 17 years.

During his tenure, Tim’s relentless and bold advocacy brought about numerous initiatives that continue to have a lasting impact on our region. These initiatives include:

  • Network2Work (Orange Dot Project)
  • John Warner Parkway (Meadowcreek Parkway)
  • Founding Board Member and Partner of Free Enterprise Forum
  • The Chamber Scholarship @ PVCC
  • The Grove at McIntire Park
  • Chamber Jobs Report
  • Retail Sales Report
  • Development of Chamber’s Code of Public Policy

Tim's passion for community and his unwavering dedication to fostering economic growth and development will not be forgotten. Community members are invited to share memories here.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Bonnie, his children, and his loved ones during this difficult time.
