What does RideShare do?
RideShare is a program of the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission, working to reduce traffic congestion and increase mobility throughout Central Virginia. We offer free carpool matching, vanpool coordination, and operate a Guaranteed Ride Home program to provide free rides home in an emergency. RideShare also works with employers to develop and implement traffic reduction programs, and we market the region’s Park and Ride lots.

Looking for a fun and impactful way to celebrate National Bike Month this May? Join RideShare's Bike Month Business Challenge! This competition encourages your team to bike for better health, a greener Charlottesville, and a chance to win local rewards and recognition.
Signing up your business is simple with a quick online pledge. Throughout May, participating employees log their bike commutes and errands (any trip replacing a car) on the free ConnectingVA app. Individuals earn points for discounts and giveaways on the app, while their logged bike trips automatically contribute to your organization's standing on our weekly leaderboard.
Last year, local businesses collectively cycled an impressive 823 miles, preventing an estimated 685 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions. Let's make an even bigger impact together this May. Get your business in gear! Learn more and sign up your team today at rideshareinfo.org/bike-month.
