The Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the 2026 Chamber Board of Directors officers and new members, marking a significant moment in the organization's 113-year history.
First Woman of Color to Lead Chamber Board
Mariane Asad Doyle, Ph.D. will serve as Chairwoman of the Chamber Board of Directors, becoming the first woman of color to lead the organization. This historic appointment represents an important step forward in ensuring the Chamber Board reflects the diversity and breadth of the regional business community.
Dr. Asad Doyle brings more than two decades of educational leadership and organizational development to her role on the Chamber Board of Directors. As Executive Director at Center for Nonprofit Excellence - Virginia and with previous leadership experience at UVA's McIntire School of Commerce, she has secured over $40 million in grants and shaped policy at multiple institutions including the Thomas Jefferson Foundation and California State University, Northridge. She holds a PhD in Educational Leadership and Higher Education.
On her appointment to the Chamber Board, Dr. Asad Doyle shared:
It's an honor to serve as Board Chair of the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce. I'm mindful of the significance of being the first woman of color to hold this role in the Chamber's 113-year history, and I see it as both a responsibility and an opportunity—to help ensure our business community reflects the full diversity, talent, and potential of our region.
2026 Chamber Board Executive Committee
The Chamber Board of Directors Executive Committee includes:
David Foky serves as Vice Chair and Chair-Elect. He is News Director at 29News WVIR-TV.
David Mitchell leads as Vice Chair of Finance. He is Director of Development & Construction at Great Eastern Management Company.
Abdi Somo leads as Vice Chair of Governance. He serves as Chief Administrative Officer at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
Nicole Hawker continues as Secretary. She is Founder of Heart and Soul Fitness.
Jonathan Chasen, CFP®, CPWA®, ChFC® serves as Immediate Past Chairman. He is Managing Director of the Bay Ridge Private Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors.
