The Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce is proud to celebrate a historic achievement: President and CEO Andrea Copeland has been named an honoree for Virginia Business Magazine’s 2025 Women in Leadership Award. This statewide recognition highlights women executives who are redefining leadership through professional excellence, civic engagement, mentorship, and breaking barriers.
A Trailblazing Leader in Charlottesville
Andrea Copeland made history as the first Black president and CEO in the Chamber’s 112-year history, a milestone that underscores her influence not only in Charlottesville but across the Commonwealth of Virginia. Her recognition as a Women in Leadership honoree is further amplified by an official commendation from Governor Glenn Youngkin, applauding her outstanding leadership and commitment to excellence.
Reflecting on the honor, Copeland shared:
“Being honored alongside so many trailblazing C-Suite women across Virginia is truly humbling, and I share this recognition with every woman who has helped me along the way. I hope it inspires women to keep leading, influencing, breaking barriers, and giving back—no matter where they are in their career journey.”
A Career of Service and Impact
Copeland’s path to CEO is a story of dedication and vision. Over more than a decade with the Chamber, she has held key leadership roles including Director of Leadership Charlottesville, Director of Member Education Services, Chief Operating Officer, and Interim CEO. Each role strengthened the Chamber’s capacity to serve members, grow partnerships, and navigate change.
Now, as CEO, she continues to champion member engagement, business advocacy, and regional collaboration, driving forward the Chamber’s vision of a thriving economy in the greater Charlottesville region.
Committed to Mentorship and Community
Beyond her executive leadership, Copeland is known for her commitment to mentoring women, young professionals, and emerging leaders. She also serves on multiple regional boards and civic organizations, extending her impact well beyond the business community. Her dedication reflects a belief that strong leadership is about lifting others while building a stronger region.
