AiPBN Learns about Suicide Prevention

November meeting recap by Aging in Place Business Network Chair Angela Keating

Cynthia Hash was our educational speaker. She talked to us about suicide and prevention. Her son died by his own hand in 2015 and she has channeled her grief into creating the Mitchell Hash Foundation whose mission is to lift the stigma, educate, and help as many people as possible to know they are not alone. Everyone in the room had been touched by suicide and I don't think there was a dry eye in there. A couple of people shared their stories afterward and it was incredibly moving to experience the courage it took for them to share the loss of loved ones or their own personal struggles. Cynthia contributes regularly on WINA radio and she leads programs for veterans and first responders as well. You can learn more about the Mitchell Hash Foundation online and on Facebook.

Don Giannangeli of Edward Jones did our Member Spotlight. He gave us the details on the history of the company. Did you know that each office has just one financial advisor and an assistant? That means that you're able to form a close relationship with your Edward Jones advisor for the long-term. It was interesting to learn that they also offer protection in the form of life insurance, long-term disability insurance, and long-term care insurance, making Edward Jones a one-stop-shop!
