We are Central Virginia’s Community Band. We provide free family band concerts throughout the year and support middle and high school students with lesson scholarships.

As part of its 102nd season of FREE community concerts, The Charlottesville Band will play a Family Pops Concert that will feature US Army rapper SSGT Nicholas Feemster recreating “My Shot” from Hamilton, Soprano Laura Lazarevich singing the classic children’s book “Good Night Moon” and alto saxophonist soloist Bonnie Slater.

A special part of the weekend’s events includes an open rehearsal with the band and soloists on Saturday, June 29, at 12:45pm. The concert is scheduled for Sunday, June 30 at 3:30 PM at The Paramount Theater on the Downtown Mall.

You don't need a ticket – just come and enjoy the show!

This collaboration with SSGT Feemster is something new for the band! This is the first time we will have the opportunity to work with a professional rap artist, and we are excited to provide the opportunity for local teens to participate in an open rehearsal with someone of his caliber, and to interact with him in an informal Q&A session.
